O.R. Opportunity

The operating room is at your fingertips! You don't have to have strong interests in a career in surgery to be amazed by the the practice of modern surgical technique and experience the impact surgical medicine can have on the lives of its patients. Over 100 physicians operate out of Emory University Hospital's third floor operating room alone. The combined operating facilities of Grady Memorial Hospital, Egleston Children's Hospital, V.A., and Crawford Long, see nearly 10,000 surgical cases each year. That's not to mention Atlanta-based un-affiliated healthcare facilities and private practice.

ASP maintains a comprehensive database of surgeons with both their clinic and operating room schedules. These physicians have volunteered their expertise to ASP members and welcome student participation in their operating room. Participation levels vary from observation to assistant depending on the surgeon, procedure, and student.
